| History: | "This appears to be a local translation of the Eskimo name often spelled ""I-am-tuk"" (Aiamtak?). The Eskimo name was first reported about 1900 and spelled ""I-im-tuck"". The stream is thought to be so called because ""a bend on the creek has the comparable appearance of a breech-loading Shotgun when broken for loading (?)."" P. Tikhmeniev published another Eskimo name, ""Lishtak"", for this stream in 1861." |
